Former Lloyds Bank boss Antonio Horta-Osorio is back – at Mediobanca – months after leaving Credit Suisse

Former Lloyds Bank boss Antonio Horta-Osorio is back at Mediobanca.

The Portuguese businessman, ousted from his role as chairman of Credit Suisse this year after breaking Covid isolation rules to attend Wimbledon in 2021, joins the Italian bank as a senior adviser next month.

He will team up with colleagues looking to grow the European business. It is believed that it can help close deals and acquire rivals.

Horta-Osorio, credited with transforming Lloyds during his decade there, is believed to have held several other corporate roles, which have yet to be announced.

He has been criticized for Lloyds’ failed compensation scheme for victims of the HBOS Reading fraud.
