Dave takes a look at the town’s new and improved playground
RED BANK, TN (WDEF) – The Joe Glasscock Red Bank Community Center certainly has a new look!
With the leaders of the city of Red Bank who made it official! Cut the strip on the new and improved community playground.
There really wasn’t much to this community center for quite a while. Just an old pavilion and a dilapidated swing. But not anymore!!!
Bright, shiny and ready for youth use. As Director of Public Works Greg Tate says, this is going to be a popular spot!!
“It is! You can see middle school and high school below us. Every day kids will come here and use this place. Some are using free wifi, some are coming out of the sun.
Planning for this new facility began about two years ago. But due to various issues, including budget issues, actual work on the project only started last month.
Red Bank Mayor Hollie Berry said now is the time. It was necessary. Because it’s about mom, dad and kids.
“We are a family community. We have a lot of young families moving in. In addition, the number of young children in our region is increasing. Everyone wants a safe place to play and relax. And you also want options. You want to be able to try out different playgrounds, as well as travel to different parts of town. »
It cost around $64,000 to upgrade this little gem. 40,000 came from taxpayers’ money. The other 24 came from a local grant.
Good swing! From Red Bank, Dave Staley, News 12 Now
