First look at the 37-story tower that scrapes the sky

Stunning images have been released showing what a £50million skyscraper structure would look like as part of the developers’ city center plans.

Gainford Group last year unveiled plans to create what could become the tallest building in the region on the site of the former Premier Inn on New Bridge Street, Newcastle. The Chester-le-Street company, which owns bars, hotels and restaurants in the town including the Vermont Hotel, Aveika, Livello and the County Hotel, took over the old hotel in 2019 and began planning a large transformation of the site.

After a pandemic pause, his initial plans for a hotel remodel were completely redesigned, to envision a 37-story tower combining a five-star hotel, private residential apartments, a conference center and a fitness and health club, as well as a number of bars and restaurants. The company says the mixed-use development has the potential to become a new gateway into Newcastle city center which could create up to 500 jobs, including construction jobs and roles needed once it will be finished.
