Construction of the new Stockman Bank building at the corner of Highway 93 and 13th Street in Whitefish is now underway.
Montana-based Stockman Bank held a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday to celebrate the start of the Whitefish location. This will be Stockman’s 37th branch to open in more than 70 years as a private family banking organization.
The other Flathead Valley location is on Main Street in Kalispell.
At the ceremony, Joe Kola, Chairman of Stockman Bank Flathead Market, spoke of the honor it was to open a new branch in Whitefish.
“The fact that we have the chance to build a state-of-the-art building right here in this unique city is really something for us; we’re proud of what we’re going to do here and proud to build this community,” Kola said. “We tip our hats to this community and want to do good for those who live and work in our small towns.”
Kola said in a press release that Stockman Bank received a warm welcome when it opened the Kalispell site in December and was looking forward to expanding its footprint in the Flathead Valley.
“[We] we are confident that our unique Montana community banking brand and high level customer service will also be well received in the Whitefish community,” he said in the release.
Kola says he grew up in the Flathead Valley and frequented Whitefish as a kid and headed to The Big Mountain to ski. He is no stranger to the city and looks forward to working with this community.
The new banking service will include a 24-hour ATM, night deposit, multi-lane auto service, and covered bicycle parking. Target completion is late spring 2023.
Stockman Bank was established in 1953 and has branches throughout the state, several in small towns like Cut Bank and Conrad. Stockman says it is “uniquely Montana-focused, with comprehensive banking products and services, as well as state-of-the-art online and mobile banking, wealth management, and insurance.”
