Torrington Police are looking for a bank robbery suspect

TORRINGTON – Police are investigating after a theft was reported Tuesday morning at Union Savings Bank on Torringford Street.

At around 10:20 a.m., city police were called to the bank after a man wearing a gray hoodie and medical mask entered the business and demanded money from the cashier, the police said. police in a statement later that afternoon.

Police said the cashier complied before the man fled. No injuries were reported and police said the amount of money taken was still “pending”.

The robbery suspect was described as a man in his late twenties about 6 feet tall with a slender build. Police said the man was also wearing black baggy pants and dark sunglasses, and had a backpack. He left the scene in a later model dark gray Jeep Cherokee.

Police have posted photos of the suspected thief on social media and are asking anyone who recognizes him to contact investigators.

“We understand that the men’s faces are covered, but the jacket is unique, and anyone reading this knows this man,” the police statement read.
